Information:
I am in my 50s, a mother of 4, grandmother of 9. And I live in Texas, born and raised here. I'm working on a vampire novel, my first, but I've written a lot of non-fiction technical writing stuff, articles on Paganism, Wicca, and such, and have banged around the Interwebs since I had to work for AOL because I spent WAY too much time online (back when you paid by the minute). I was a board moderator for them (read: TOS police) for awhile.
I started my fascination with vampires WAY back in the Dark Shadows (the original Jonathan Frid edition, not that Depp Sclhepp) and used to write fan fiction. I went to my first science fiction convention in 1979, I've been on a LOT of convention committees, I have finally been a convention guest a couple of times, and through that, I've met a lot of actors and authors, which has been a lot of fun. I've had dinner with C3PO (Antony Daniels), sat and talked heart conditions with Jimmy Doohan, had Walter Koenig bring my 4-year old back to me. I've had Marion Zimmer Bradley try to talk me into giving her my 3-week old son (his ears were pointed at the time) and I've told stories with Claudia Christian of Babylon 5. It's been a fun life.
I met my now-husband-love of my life-soulmate at ConTroll 93 when he had a button saying ''I still miss my ex-but my aim is getting better'' and I told him that I needed that button. As we talked, he mentioned he had been told he made a damned good breakfast and my mouth said ''If you make me breakfast, I will be honor-bound to make you breakfast'' and then I panicked and left the room, stopping to call my sister on the way to the bar. She knew him and said ''OMG, GO OUT WITH HIM, he was the one I would have picked for you the first time (my other 2 marriages failed by then).'' But what I didn't know was he was 2 feet behind me and had heard BOTH sides of the conversation since my sister was screaming this. We went out that night and every night for three weeks. Then we went three days not talking, then couldn't stand it. We married six months later. That's 20 years ago.
I'm into Books and TV/Movies. All things vampire (that includes True Blood - Team Bill, but not Twilight, vampires do NOT sparkle). Supernatural. Star Trek. LOTR/Hobbit, Big Bang Theory, Firefly, Dr. Who, and whatever else catches my attention. Books include Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R.Ward, Cut & Run by Abigail Roux, Cat & Bones by Jeaniene Frost, Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter, the Dark Carpathians by Christine Feehan, and whatever hits my Nook.
I have 3 tattoos. All of them put on since I was 45. One on my back, one on my right breast (breast cancer survivor - it's a pink ribbon) and one on my left wrist - a band designed by my eldest daughter who is an artist (I wanted something of hers). I like heavy metal music, classical music, and country. I have 2 Shetland Sheepdogs. I play World of Warcraft (and have a Dell Horde computer!) and Skyrim. I have never been shot in the knee.
I'm a reviewer for Paranormal Romance Guild which means I read and then write reviews for them. I love to read. I love to write. So it's a natural.
I'm a historian by training, my era is Antebellum South, Texas, and Slavery. That is my starting point but if it's historical, I'm interested. I love New Orleans, Galveston, and Scotland. Texas history fascinates me. Royal history fascinates me. Military history fascinates me. I'm just a history nut. And that makes me a very, very good researcher. If it's out there, I can dig it out.
My novel first novel Lilly's Angel was published August 2013 and the series (yes, there are three more books planned so far) is the Fangs and Halos Series. I worked history into the book. I also have a batshit crazy female vampire who talks to skulls. And an angel.
That's me, if you read it this far, thank-you. You now know who I am.
